The Secret's Out.

I found a ridiculously awesome auction site, that features just about anything you’d want (if you do some searching) for prices mostly well below what they’re worth.

shopgoodwill.com

It’s the online auction equivalent of digging through your local thrift store, but with a higher “Yes!  I found something!” rate.  For example, I recently made a $15 purchase on a box of Sega stuff.  Included:

  • Genesis emulator plugNplay
  • Genesis 2 (no cords)
  • Dreamcast controller and VMU
  • Game Gear w/ MMPR
  • Super Wide Gear (magnifier for Game Gear)
  • Game Genie for Game Gear
  • PS2 Memory Card
  • N64 Rumble Pak
  • Spider-Man, Hardball, Golden Axe, X-Men (Genesis, loose)
  • Virtua Racing, Mortal Kombat 2 (32X, loose)
  • Bill Walsh College Football 95, Cadash, Tony Larussa Baseball, ESPN Natl Hockey Night, College Slam, ESPN Baseball Tonight, Aladdin, After Burner 2, WWF RAW, Road Rash 2, NBA Action 95, NHL 94, RISK, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, NBA Jam, Sword of Vermillion (Genesis, boxed with manuals)

Not bad for $15.  Pumped about having my favorite Genesis game ever on cartridge, RISK!

Daylight Slayings: My Trip To The Roller Derby

Telling a story about something sort of taboo, tucked away in a cement floored warehouse of sorts, with girls near fighting, a roaring crowd, and fire dancing performers,  you’d think I was still in NYC.  However, I had just returned home to rural VA and somehow ended up at a roller derby at Expoland in Fishersville.  There was no rink, no ramps, just tape on a floor that girls skated around in and shoved each other, trying to score points.

I learned all about jammers, blockers and pivots.  I watched petite and not-so-petite ladies hips slam into the ground, then watched them get up and keep skating like nothing happened.  I heard those hips smack the ground.  I know they hurt. Each team had about a dozen gals, all with custom nicknames and jersey numbers.  Though they lost, I was secretly cheering for the away team, as Foxy Horror, a cute roller derby gal, chose 1337 as her jersey number.  Pretty sure she could beat me up, but she was cute none the less.

It’s not creepy that I googled a roller derby girl, right?

Apparently there’s quite a roller derby scene up and down the east coast.  Upcoming bouts/games/matches/whatever they’re called (EDIT: Derbys!  duh!) took place from Maryland to South Carolina.  Is there roller derby going in NY?  There has to be.  I want to go see more.  It’s fun.

Thoughts on #Hallowmeme:

Friday night I went with @WaltRibeiro to the #Hallowmeme party.  It ruled.  Everyone was dressed as an internet meme, including, but not limited to:

  • Three Wolf Man
  • DMCA
  • A Series Of Tubes
  • ROFLCopter
  • several Keyboard Cats
  • Peanut Butter Jelly Time Bananas
  • We Have Lasers
  • Post Secret
  • XKCD
  • Old Gregg
  • FIRST!

I went as Daft Hands.  It turned out to be a better choice than going as Rainbow Road guy (above.)  I met some rad people, including quite a few cuties.  Although I prefer Firefox to Safari, the gal dressed as Firefox was not as cute as the gal dressed as Safari.  I talked to a girl as She-Ra (and her cuter, but less interesting Queen of Hearts friend) because I thought they were DynaWoman and ElectraGirl.

A very drunk girl, not in costume, desperately “flirted” with me by talking about how nerdy everything and how she didn’t get the jokes.  I escaped her by bringing to her attention the free cake.  There really was free cake.  It was not a lie.

I wish every party was a meme party.  I was all smiles all night.  Wish I would’ve met a Boxxy.  I love the internets.

I Was Supposed To Post This About 3 Weeks Ago

Where did the weeks go? Why did the weeks go?

Anywho, I got really into these songs.  Enjoy.

The real La Roux video was embed disabled.  Go watch it on the real YouTubes.
